Bermudamal Posted January 11, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2006 Does anyone have a recommdation for a hotel near the pier on NYC? We are trying to decide whether to come to NYC a day early to avoid the stress of travelling on the day of departure. Any suggestions will be gladly appreciated. Thank you. captNcrunch Posted January 11, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2006 Try hotelsbythepier.com the only problem is if you are using the new terminal at Red Hook it's not in there. We have stayed at the Crown Plaza, and have booked the Omni and Embassy Suites for March and September. Hotels.com also lets you use the cruise terminal as a landmark when searching. Tripadvisor.com is also quite handy, I found rates were better dealing directly with the individual hotels Good Luck:D
rabbitcruiser Posted January 12, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2006 I'm in NYC every weekend and have been for the past twenty years. I can tell you that there aren't a lot of hotels right by the pier (at least not clean or safe ones...), and since there is an abundance of taxis throughout the city that can get you from any hotel to the pier in less than 5 minutes, don't worry about the location. I would recommend The Hotel Edison (W. 47th near 8th) and the Skyline (W. 49th and 10th Ave.) for moderately-priced hotels; the Sheraton Manhattan or the Sheraton Towers (both around 7th Avenue/W. 52nd Street) for a slightly more comfortable experience. All hotels are safe and clean, and a 5-7 minute taxi ride to the pier.
