Nitropodder Posted October 17, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2018 Can anybody recommend a company that provides shore excursions from Seville port itself please? I have found several perfect day tours but they all leave from the port of Cadiz. Specifically we would like to include Alcazar in our itinerary. We are cruising on the Braemar next June which is small enough to dock right in the heart of Seville. Experience has taught us local tour businesses are far superior (and cheaper) than excursions provided by the cruise-lines. Any other Seville tips would be much appreciated, we are there for two days.
Daisyloo Posted October 17, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 17, 2018 Seville isn't a port. It is inland. Cadiz is a port.
Nitropodder Posted October 17, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted October 17, 2018 Seville has a cruise port terminal. Smaller ships can navigate up the Guadalquivir. i.e. Fred Olsen's Braemar.

hkto Posted October 18, 2018 #5 Share Posted October 18, 2018 (edited) In Seville major attractions don't really require any tours. Alcazar gets line ups but then online ticket for 1€ extra solves that problem. Cathedral doesn't have any lineups. Plaza Espana and Maria Luisa park can be visited on your own. Lots of good restaurants for dinner and lunch and quite reasonably priced. But there are lots of "free" tours that are good and expect donations. For out of town trips Carmona is an easy one, bus M104 from San Bernardo station. Stops with green signs on the left if facing station. Both Ronda and Cadiz are approximately 2 hrs away, reachable by bus (PRADO SS station). Cadiz and Jerez (horse show but not every day) can reached by bus or train. There is also day tour to white villages (Pueblos Blanco's) that include Ronda. Also can recommend Gourmet experience in El Corte Ingles Duque. Located on the 5th floor, has large balcony with great views of the city. And food not bad either especially in Italian section. edinburgher Posted October 19, 2018 #7 Share Posted October 19, 2018 (edited) Top attractions in Seville could be easily done by yourselves as they are also quite time consuming and Seville can be really really hot which slows you down and necessitates rests along the way. On foot, the Alcazar, Cathedral and Bario Santa Cruz are all close to each other and with a break or two along the way, could take a few hours. That might be enough in itself for you in one day, allowing for the short walk from and back to the dock. If not, there are plenty other sights close by which you could stroll around. There might also be a ship shuttle bus taking you the short distance and dropping you closer to the Old Town but they cannot drive in. Plaza de Espana in the Parc Maria Luisa could be done later in the day or the following day if you are overnighting, as one of the entrances to the park was at most a couple of minutes walk across the road from where we were docked both times. Brings you in almost in the park centre, forward and left for the plaza, forward and right for a lovely stroll (seating and shade) towards the two museums (archeaology and folk) and flower beds. Being so close to the ship it is a less demanding day than the first one and not so crowded either. It is also good if you overnighted and your second day departure time gives you a shorter day than the first one. As the river is tidal, you may have a shorter first day and a longer second one so you could reverse the order but do book ahead for the Alcazar. We have docked in Seville twice, on two different lines, and one time the trees were laden with oranges, really pretty and very colourful (especially so in the Bario Santa Cruz) and you could smell them in the air. The second time they were not in season and we missed them. I hope your timing means you get the oranges. There is also a Seville HOHO but you would need to read reviews first as much of the historic centre is a "no go" traffic area where it cannot go, but it does pass near to the dock if you wanted an overview of the city.
