anectar Posted November 7, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2018 Heading to Harvest Caye in February and would love to Snorkel here but the reviews and cost of the NCL excursion are not appealing. Any suggestions?
anectar Posted November 8, 2018 Author #2 Share Posted November 8, 2018 Where do you rent the equipment and for how much? Do I need to reserve from the ship or at the port?
zqvol Posted November 8, 2018 #3 Share Posted November 8, 2018 You aren't going to find equipment at HC. The snorkeling there is horrible. If you want to snorkel at HC, an excursion is a must. The excursion is about an hour boat ride to the site, an hour in the water and an hour back. 1

Remember that HC is basically a recent artificially built up island that has not had time to redevelop it's natural surroundings. Swimming off the beach with our snorkel mask we bought from home was not interesting. No fish, poor viz, only a whole bunch of baby jelly fish. We saw the bigger jellies along side the pier that the ship docks on. Beside the zip line, HC is not much more than the ship on land as far as vibe. No loss leaving it for a excursion. We are repeating our trip next year on a different ship, but definitely plan to take a snorkel or scuba trip rather than spend the time on the HC tourist trap.
