New Twist on Old Drink Packages for 18 year olds

Thanks to the great work by members here on CC, we were able to upgrade our DOU to Deluxe for New Year's 2019 on Seaside.  However, our family at that time will consist of 3 adults (as I said no problem with those being upgraded at $26 a day per person) and an 18 year old who obvious can't drink.  MSC upgraded his to a soda package that includes only soda for $11 a day.  When asked how much it would cost to upgrade his to a drink package that would include mocktails, the cost was $29 a day.  $3 more than to have alcohol.  Are they nuts?!!  So basically you can upgrade the alcoholic packages but a child's package will be soda only.

I like the final product with MSC, been on 3 cruises and have 2 more booked but they are a headache to deal with.
