gamer99 Posted January 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2006 We will be sailing on the Jewel for Spring Break in April and my 5 year old is very shy and attached to her sister. Anybody know if I'll be able to sign her up with the 6-9 group so that she can be with her sister?
electricron Posted January 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2006 No! NCL is very strict with the Kids Crew group age seperations. Junior Sailors (Age 2-5) First Mates (Age 6-9) Navigators (Age 10-12) Teens (Age 13-17)
gamer99 Posted January 16, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted January 16, 2006 Do you think I could bump my 6 year back to be with her sister in the younger group? I guess it won't hurt to ask but I'm afraid my 5 year old won't join the kids club without her sister.:( Is there anything at all I could do? The 5 year old is very responsible and won't disrupt anything in the older group.
electricron Posted January 16, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2006 As I responded earlier, and no one has corrected me yet, NCL is very strict with placing kids into groups by age. The kids can be together when away from the Kids Club. It's also time for the children to learn to make their own new friends. Use this opportunity as a learning experience. Obvously they will not be going to the same class at school in the very near future.
KeystoneCruiser Posted January 16, 2006 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2006 I have encountered NCL's Kids Club policy. There is not moving up or moving down, the age groups are non-negotiable. Sorry
gamer99 Posted January 16, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted January 16, 2006 Thanks for the responses. It won't hurt to ask and hopefully by then, I will have prepped my 5yo that she will not be with her sister and she will not be too surprised. sandyneck Posted January 28, 2006 #7 Share Posted January 28, 2006 The only absolute is they will NOT move a child up, but unlike the previous poster, NCL did let me move my son down to be with his sister, as have all other cruise lines I have been on. They are only 17 months apart, so maybe if the age difference was more they would not have let them. Don't worry about it, ask them and if they say no, your 5 year old will probably end up loving the club anyway.
2boyzmom Posted January 28, 2006 #8 Share Posted January 28, 2006 I have a 4 and 6 year old and plan on asking to move my 6 year old down (he just turned 6 last month). I know they will be together at group sitting after 10.
