Oceanview or Balcony Room on Canadian/New England Cruise?

Recommended Posts

We are looking at taking the 14-day Oct. 28 cruise from Quebec City to Fort Lauderdale but have been debating about the type of room to get. We always get rooms with balconys, but with this trip late in October, we are thinking it might be too cold to use a balcony. Has anyone taken this trip before and what type of room do you recommend? There is a big difference in price between these two types of rooms, plus with the weather and early sunsets, wonder if it is worth the price? I really don't want to get an inside room if I have to. We have three sea days, one in Canada two of them between Virginia and Florida, while the rest of the time we will be at port. Other stops include four locations in Canada, Bar Harbor, Boston, New York, Norfork, and Charleston.

At that time of the year I would not think the extra cost for a balcony would be worthwhile because you would probably only be able to use it for the last couple of days before you arrive in Fort Lauderdale. This time of the year in Canada and the Northeast U.S. is getting cold and will probably be windy and you could even see some snow.

We have been on this cruise twice. One time it was so windy that people could not even get their balcony doors open without a lot of work and when they did they could not even walk out there. The other time it was not so windy but it was so cold that trips on the balcony were very short indeed. I would save the money and just get an outside cabin.
