carlakruz Posted January 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2006 We are arriving in San Juan the night before our Empress of the Sea sails. Could anyone give me a suggestion of any "night life" prior to boarding the ship? thanks
Clubber Posted January 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2006 There is plenty of nightlife in OSJ. Lots of bars/restaurants/discos, etc... We usually eat at the Parrot Club and then bar hop. We'll probably end up at Senor Frogs this year. Under two weeks!!! We are staying at the OSJ Sheraton so we can just walk everywhere for our pre-cruise night out. pholter Posted January 15, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 15, 2006 There is lots to do in OSJ, but if you are looking to see a different part of the city, then consider Isla Verde. I'd recommend either The Water Club (Tangerine Restaurant and the night club on the roof afterwards) or dinner at the Metropol (great local specialties at reasonable prices)... Things really don't get going Club wise in San Juan till close to midnight, but there is plenty to have fun doing prior to "disco" hours... texancruzer Posted January 16, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2006 We stayed at El Convento 2 nights precruise to our 11/26 Serenade sailing. We found plenty of nightlife even tho we arrived Thanksgiving evening. Try the Rhumba Nightclub for some REAL San Juan salsa. We were there on Friday night and they had a 6 or 7 piece band - a little loud but lots of fun...especially to watch the locals do salsa the right way !!! Also there is the Newyorican but they had jazz band the night we were there so we did not stay. We did not go all the way to San Juan to go to Sr. Frogs but instead wanted something truly Puerto Rican.... had a blast. We found both clubs to be pretty much up and running by 11:00. No cover at Rhumba but was at Newyorican (not sure how much- we didnt stay when we found out they were playing jazz that night). Also a club at our hotel supposed to have good jazz but again - didnt check it out. Ask your concierge or hotel front desk and taxi drivers are also good sources for info. I cant wait to go back.... I loved San Juan.
