Another safety question

My husband and I are taking different excusions in Costa Maya. His does not return until 2:30, mine at 12:30. Can I look at the shops around the tourist village safely or should I just get back on the ship and wait for him there? I know the fishing village is cheaper but I really do not want to go there by myself.

Costa Maya was developed by the cruise companies and is surrounded by a wall. The Mayan people are lovely people, no problem there. It is usually rather crowded with several ships in port. It's a great place to shop and they will have music and dancers by the pool.

As the previous poster said, there will be lots of people in the pier area, and it is surrounded by a shops, with just one or 2 exits. I never felt unsafe there, nor in Majahual.

Here is a link to some pictures I took there. The pictures at the pier, including the pool, were taken at the end of the day, and as you see there are still a lot of people in the pool.

Enjoy your time there!
