Another Postive Review for David and Ivan - Chacchoben Ruins

I just returned yesterday from our cruise on the Carnival Valor. While in Costa Maya, our group took the Chacchoben Ruins tour with David and Ivan, David was our guide. We could not have been more pleased with the time that we spent there. It turned out to be the highlight of the cruise for most of our group. We did have to wait for some time to get a confirmation of our reservation. All of the posts explaining that the internet connections available to them being limited are true. It is easy to find them at the Cats Meow restaurant. Barbara the owner there is very gracious and has great food.

David gave such a perfect tour of the ruins site. He is very knowledgable about all aspects of the Mayan Culture. He will tell you more than you will ever be able to remember. Other tours at the time just cruised on through, while David took the time to explain everything about the area. He knew all about the architecture, the local plants and animals, and the religion of the Mayans that explained alot about what you were touring through. One guy in our group inadvertently stopped to videotape while standing in an ant bed. He was bitten quite a bit on his ankles. When David heard this and that it was bothering him a little bit, he trucked on out into the jungle and came back with a stick. He broke the stick apart and some clear goopy stuff came out of it. The guy in our group rubbed that on his ankles and within minutes was relieved of the irritation. He did not mention them bothering him the rest of the cruise.

Don't hesitate to go on this excursion. I would guarantee that you will have an incredible time. We took the shorter tour but still had plenty of time for shopping and nachos at the Cats Meow afterwards.

We took this tour last week and I agree with everything you said. David is so informed, so intelligent, and so interesting!! The Cat's Meow has great guacamole. The only down side is the rude and pushy vendors in town, not good prices, steer clear of them, they are almost threatening, and will yell at you if you don't buy something.
