Port Canaveral Embark/Disembark - Good or bad?

I consider Port Canaveral my home Port even though Port of Tampa is only a 30 minutes drive from my home.  I always have a smooth process with the exception of one cruise.  It was not Carnival's fault, customs

held the ship up.  That time we did not leave the ship until around 11:30.

We like PC, and embarkation is usually good, though we have had an issue or two getting into the port parking.  Debarkation is more of a mixed bag - sometimes taking minutes, other times taking close to an hour.  But we have yet to find a perfect port, though Tampa comes pretty close.  Unfortunately, due to the Sunshine Skyway bridge, the big ships can't port in Tampa so we often travel to other ports.
