Uniworld - Frankfurt round trip - April 15 questions

My spouse (school teacher) and I are going on the Frankfurt-Frankfurt Uniworld cruise April 15 departure - anyone else going?

Also, any advice:

- type of clothes (day and night)

- optional excurions (worth it or do on our own)

- good cabin location

- wine included with dinner? (If not, how is the selection and how are the prices?) Can we purchase wine at ports of call and bring on board to consume and also to take back home?

Thanks

You will love the informality of river cruising withUniworld. Casual clothing--slacks, polos, sweaters, dockers, even sweats(not ratty ones). No jeans or shorts in the dining room for dinner. A sport coat for the Captain's dinner--maybe. Nice pants outfits for you. Good walking shoes a must.

Can't say anything about your excursions--ours were always included. Give the names of your stops and someone who has been there will help.

Don't pick a cabin on the lower decks forward--bow thrusterd can be very noisey during the nite.

Wine with dinner or lunch not included. Prices reasonable. If you don't finish the bottle, the crew will store it for another day. We were always able to bring alcohol on board. In fact, we usually bought something at each stop. Some consumed in the room, some came home. There is probably a corkage fee, but we never took our wine to the dining room. The wine selection was good--always a recommended wine, but a very good list. This board members will be very honest about their experiences and try to help answer your questions. Pat

The only stop on our Black Sea to Amsterdam that coincides is Rudesheim. It is a lovely town. You can walk from the ship to almost anyplace. There is a little train (DisneyWorld parking lot tram) that can also get you around town. If there is any optional dinner out, DO IT. We had so much fun--we have pictures of the Ompa band made up of people from the ship---just hilarious. The town is touristy, but fun. Managed to get some Chrisitmas ornaments. The shops are geared towards tourtists, but we found some interesting things to bring home. There is a wine museum and a toy museum (we passed on that). I'll look in my journal for the name of the restaurant and the name of the special coffee drink they make.
