Are there any hotels in Ft. Lauderdale Airport??

I am looking for a hotel in the airport, or very very close to the airport with a free shuttle. The day my cruise ends, my flight to LAX does not leave until 6:40pm, so I will have the day to spend, and I am looking for a hotel with a pool and a place to hang out until my flight. Some, like in Orlando at the Hyatt, have special day rates just for this purpose, which is what I hope to find in Fort. Laud. I have done this in Orlando at the Hyatt (nice) and in Miami at the MIA (yuck!!). Any info is much appreciated, thanks.

There's no hotel IN FLL... The SE 17th Street hotels (most do not have airport shuttles though) and the Marriott Courtyard, Sheraton & Wyndham (nasty) are about the same distance from the terminals. There are also some in Hollywood, the next stop south on I-95, that have shuttles.

Marriott Courtyard Dania Beach... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/FLLHT

Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Airport... http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/search/hotel_detail.html?propertyID=1115

Holiday Inn Hollywood... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hd/fllas

La Quinta Hollywood... http://www.lq.com/lq/properties/propertyProfile.do?ident=LQ985

I am considering the Sheraton, how is it?? You say the Wyndham is bad, how come?? What do you suggest-I need a place to hang out for the day with 2 kids, DH and DM-just a room for the luggage and to put down the baby for a nap, a restaurant for lunch, a shower, and a pool. Any thoughts?

The Sheraton gets mixed reviews, some love it, some hate it... There's nothing to walk to from it though. The Wyndham is not a nice place, lots of complaints about that one, it's old, tired and dirty, nothing to walk to from there either.

My first choice if you want somewhere with lots of restaurants would be one of the SE 17th Street hotels, but you may have a problem getting a day room at those, and most don't have airport shuttles. Cabs are cheap and a lot easier though.

I'd probably go with the Marriott Courtyard Dania Beach. It's new and very nice, it's next door to Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World and Islamorada Fish Co... http://www.ifcstonecrab.com/ritem.cfm?cat=63

Another option near the airport is the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Great pool for the kids, nice shopping, restaurants and who knows you could go home with a pocketful of nickels. ;)

Well it's not exactly Vegas style gambling but it is a lot of fun none the less. Lots of slots and cards. Great way to kill an afternoon. They're about 10 minutes from the airport. :p
