rogerdm Posted June 13, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 13, 2004 I have reserved a suite on the Mercury and am confused. The CC class seems to have more perks than the suite from reading this board. What is the better of the two??
Spender Nui Posted June 13, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 13, 2004 The suite itself will be better than the CC cabin but I don't think you'll get all the amenities of CC. As far as a butler is concerned I wouldn't want one.

Bridge Maven Posted June 13, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 13, 2004 My husband and I had a sky suite on the Century last December and have booked a sky suite on the Mercury for next January. Needless to say, I think it is a great cabin and worth the additional expense. "Leonardo da Vinci" to West Indies, March 1976 "Sovereign of the Seas" to Bahamas, December 1999 "Destiny" to Canada, August 2000 "Infinity" to Alaska, August 2001 "Millennium" to Eastern Carribean, December 2002 "Century" to Western Carribean, December 2003 "Mercury" to Mexican Riviera, January/February 2005
transactionchick Posted June 13, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 13, 2004 There have been several posts on this board about this. The Sky suite has a better room, larger balcony, priority boarding and free use of the T pool. The CC class has a different set of amenities. We were just in SS 1221 on Mercury and those CC amenities were not offered to us. Bottom line is read both sets of 'perks' and decide which is better for you. For us a butler just ended up being someone who brought us more food (tea and canapes - which we did not need) and someone else we had to tip. The T pool was a great perk but we could have bought it cheaper than the difference in price between CC and suite. As far as the priority boarding, there was no line when we boarded for either suites or reg class so it was a non-issue. The balcony was largely wasted as the weather was not good enough to really use. I insist on my own personal piece of deck (ie, a balcony) but this was overkill on this particular cruise. I could see it being nice in the caribbean or if you had a group you wanted to entertain. It is just our opinion, but we did not feel the SS merited the extra price. IF we want a suite again, we will spring for the Royal Suite. If not, we will probably chose CC or a regular balcony cabin. Again, just our opinion and others may not feel the same. Happy Sailing! TNTKP Posted June 14, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 14, 2004 What is the better of the two??[/QUOTE] Dear rogerdm, Sorry to say, this is a very personal matter. For some the larger room size, priority embarkation/debarkation, priority port tendering, and the simplicity of dealing with one person (the butler)in person, rather than having to call several people, with requests more than offsets the suite higher price. Quite frankly, we've stayed in suites twice on Celebrity, and can't think of anything offered in CC rooms that weren't available in the suites, if just for the asking. Good luck.
