paminohio Posted April 9, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2004 I think I've decided on the Sensation out of Jacksonville in October for an inexpensive family cruise. I would like information on the pools (does one have a slide?) and Camp Carnival. All opinions and comments appreciated!! Thanks, Pam until Voyager
Jasonsterling Posted April 9, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Don't know about Camp Carnival really but the main pool does have a slide. When I was on the Sensation I saw alot of kids doing Camp Carnival stuff, like savenger hunts ect and the ship seemed to keep them pretty busy. paminohio Posted April 9, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted April 9, 2004 As long as my kids have some kind of slide, they're happy! Thanks! Pam until Voyager
Cotton Posted April 9, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Pam, unless I am mistaken (and I often am), the Sensation will be sailing out of Tampa until it relocates to N.O. The first cruise out of N.O. on Sensation is October 23, 2004. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong. guidobiker Posted April 9, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 9, 2004 We took our kids on the Sensation on the 5 day in Oct. of 2002. At that time they were 6 and 12. The counselers in Camp Carnival were really great with them doing many activities depending on age group and the kids enjoyed their time there. There is a slide for the pool but there is a minimum height requirement of 48" if I remember correctly. Cotton Posted April 9, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 9, 2004 The latest Carnival brochures lists, from Jacksonville: Celebration - 4 day - starting 10/28/04 Celebration - 5 day - starting 10/23/04 Festivale 1987 Carnivale 1988 Mardi Gras 1989 Pacific Princess 1990 Norway 1994 Holiday 2001 Holiday 2002 Holiday 2003
CruiseMark Posted April 9, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 9, 2004 That changed since the brochure was printed. This from Carnival Web site: "The company also announced that the recently refurbished Celebration will assume the Holiday’s previously announced schedule of four- and five-day cruises from Jacksonville -- the first year-round cruise program from that port -- beginning in October 2004" The Carnival Web site also shows that the Sensation will be moving to New Orleans in October from Tampa, beginning October 23rd. It won't be going to Jacksonville. Cotton Posted April 9, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Thx, Mark. It can be SO confusing, but I think that's what I just said: The Celebration will be homeported in Jacksonville starting in October, and the Sensation homeported in N.O. starting 10/23.
