lanajest Posted January 20, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2006 Is it worth paying extra? Does anyone know if you should reserve prior to sailing? Traveling with 4 adults, 4 children. We thought it would be a good way to have a special "adult" dinner.
Cruise4Andy Posted January 20, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2006 lanajest: To answer your question first: YES! Definately! The club restaurants on Costa (Club Atlantica, Club Medusa or Club Vincenza) offer an even higher dining experience than what you already find in the main dining room. The atmosphere is romantic, relaxed and exquisit, including first class service with lots of personal attention. Also extremely nice is the live piano player, which highlights the entire exclusive experience. You don't have to make reservations before you cruise, but should decide within your first day or so, what day you'd like to go. Make reservations during the day for your desired time and day, or (if you are cruising in a suite) have your butler make the reservations. LITTLE HINT: If you don't necessary like to experience the first gala dinner (first formal night), schedule your Club Restaurant Dinner that night. Most likely (and we've scheduled it twice during our last two cruises on that night) it will be extremely quiet and calm... you may even be the only ones in the entire club restaurant. The menu is outstanding! We left our teenagers eat at the buffet with their friends that night... they were happy about that! Andy
macd2 Posted January 20, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 20, 2006 We went to the club restaurant the first night of our cruise. To us, that seems to be night on a cruise the regular dining room has the most confusion. The club restaurant was very empty that night. The food is great in the club restaurant, but also very good in the dining rooms. I'd pay for the club restaurant if you're looking for quiet, romantic, and long dinner with personalized service. If you're a foodie looking for 5 star gourmet dining, you might be disappointed. In our experience, the biggest food improvement was the pasta course and the sauces. The entrees were a little better. Dessert is the same. I wouldn't miss a Gala night though... that's when they bring out the filet mignon and lobster in the dining rooms.
