Princess excursion : Dublin Castle and Book of Kells

Recommended Posts

Has anyone taken this excursion by Princess? If so any thoughts?   I know you can buy these tickets on your own.  We are in Dublin two days.  One day we would take the Princess Shuttle ($8 pp each way I have read) into Dublin and walk /do hop on/hop off bus maybe on our own.  I was thinking of this excursion for the morning of day 2.  It may be a bit more price wise than buying tickets on our own but we'd have the transportation into town covered and would not have to worry about the timing of the Princess shuttles, etc.  Thanks for any input.

We were in Dublin in 2012 and visited the National Museum of Ireland - Archaeology.  It was raining and we thought it was a good place to "wait it out".  However....it was a wonderful museum.  and it's free!!  It has two "illuminated manuscripts" (correct name for books like the Book of Kells).  Maybe not as fancy but there was no line, no ticket to buy and you could look at it as long as you wanted.  If I remember correctly I was the only person in the room!!  Just a thought for people interested in something different.
