Itinerary Change - Vision of the Seas

I’m disappointed that RC canceled our stop to Valletta for our upcoming Mediterranean Greek Isles Cruise in September 2019. The reason for the itinerary change was due to “some port congestion,” and “to avoid large crowds.”  I’ve never heard of this as a reason to change itineraries. Are there any cruisers out there that have any input on this subject?
