Airport-Funchal Portugal

What is the airport that one uses when coming into the port of Funchal Portugal? Is it easy to make connections for flights returning to the states?

Funchal, (apt code FNC) on the island of Madeira would offer flights to Lisbon and London (and probably other places). There are more flights from FNC to Lisbon, but fewer flights from Lisbon to the USA. Conversely there are less flights from FNC to London, but once there, there are a multitude of onward flights to the USA.

Hannah, I have flown from Funchal twice......we flew TAP (Air Portugal) into Lisbon, then Lisbon on to Newark. The airport in Funchal is small, but service is adequate.
