anno Posted January 21, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2006 We were on the western cruise last week. Can't rmemeber what port it was but shortly after leaving the port they called a bravo bravo bravo drill and the crew manned one of the lifeboats. We stopped in the water and they had the searched lights on and a life ring in the water. We were told it was just a drill. Has anyone ever experienced them stopping an hour out of port to do a drill at night? There were rumors of someone going overboard. They delayed us about 45 minutes then we continued on.
picktowncruzr Posted January 21, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2006 We did a man-overboard drill one time - - there was an orange box floating in the water and the ship turned around and retrieved it from the water. It was kinda scary at first because I didn't hear the announcements, but then pretty interesting to watch. I would be pretty sure it was just a drill. daddybuff Posted January 21, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2006 I think this is great. The more safety training the better in case of a real emergency.
anno Posted January 21, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted January 21, 2006 It was a little scary to watch since we were just above the one lifeboat that they use for such things. They were using the search lights and had the side doors open at the water level and we saw the orange life rings. We figured it was just a drill but didn't think they would stop while in route. They also did a drill while we were in port! One of the crew members did tell us that someone went over but others said no it was just a drill.
