Has anyone taken advantage of the dive certification program offered on the Caribbean cruises? I'll be on the Crown in July and I'm curious about the program.

Hello,

I did the Padi Open Water Diver Certification on the Caribbean Princess May 2005. I had chosen to do the course work and DVD at home. Here is what the onboard schedule for the 7 Day Western looked like. I should think it is similar to the Eastern route with your dives in St.Thomas and St.Maarten.

Thanks CruiseKing! This is great info. The early mornings may be a little rough while on vacation, but well worth it I think.

A few other questions - how much is the program and how many people were in the classes when you did it? Did you miss a lot of port time while doing this?

Thanks again for the info!

You're welcome. There were 5 people in my class and 1 instructor. She was great. In fact I'm off to the Caribbean Princess in about a week for a reunion of sorts and to dive with her. We did some double sessions on the sea days which gave us the entire day off in Ocho Rios. As far as port time in Grand Cayman and Cozumel, we were done with our certification dives by 1PM which did leave us with some port time. The way I looked at it the dives were my port time/excursion. The cost of the program was $359 charged to your shipboard account. For more info go to http://www.newwaves.com
