julie2s Posted April 7, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2019 We are 4 adults traveling on HAL Eurodam and will be in Sitka on May 30th from 7:00 am until 1:00 pm. For those of you that have rented a car in Sitka, would you say it was worth doing? If so, did you use Sitka Car rental? The rate for a 5 person SUV appears to be $95.00 which seems reasonable. (I haven't checked availability so it may be a moot point.) If not, can you tell us how our time there is best spent? In Juneau, we have booked Mendenhall Glacier& Whale watch tour through Alaska Shore Tours. In Ketchikan, we are taking the float plane to Misty Fjords through Family Air. luvteaching Posted April 8, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2019 Hi, You are in Sitka from 8:00 - 4:00 and docked at the dock outside of town. You'll be shuttled into town and dropped at the Convention Center. There's a lot to see in Sitka just walking including the Totem Pole Park and several things in town. Next time we're there DH and I are talking about getting a day pass for the public transportation system and riding all three routes! It should take about 2.5-3 hours and we'll get to see some areas we haven't seen before. Sitka is special as it's not commercialized like Juneau and Ketchikan with a distinct lack of jewelry stores. They have a lovely Ben Franklin store and a very nice fabric store if you like fabric. Karen
