lmstic Posted April 11, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2019 Does anyone have suggestions for the best place to rent a car when returning from our cruise in November? We are traveling with my in-laws who are not very mobile. We will be driving them to their FL residence and returning the car to the Tampa airport where we have our return flight home. Corby114 Posted April 11, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2019 Best and easiest way is to use the free shuttle service from the Port Of Miami to the large Miami International Rental Car Center which is located directly across from Miami International Airport. Alamo, National, Enterprise, Dollar, and Thifty provide the free service. The shuttles circle the terminal area until they have a full load of passengers. They then leave the Port Of Miami for the short fifteen minute ride to the Rental Car Center. Some drivers will ask to see your rental car reservation before they allow you to board the shuttle. The Rental Car Center is open twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. It’s a lot easier than using the downtown Miami locations that are very busy and very small on turnaround days. Large inventory of rental vehicles, better prices, and enough employees during busy periods.
25dbb Posted April 16, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 16, 2019 Arriving into new Royal terminal, where do you get the shuttle to the Miami International Rental Car Center from this facility and how early does this start?
Corby114 Posted April 16, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 16, 2019 Shuttles pass the terminal during regular disembarkation. Just flag the driver down and they will stop to pick you up. Some drivers will ask to see your rental car reservation because some passengers are looking for free transportation back to MIA which is across the street from the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center. Shuttle service normally starts as soon as the ship has cleared customs and the first passengers begin to leave the vessel. I believe service begins around 6:30AM.
