mpffls Posted April 12, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2004 I have always booked w/ best price cruises and they have done an excellent job.....gotten a great price hundreds below all others....and the cruise prices always went up.... I am thinking of booking directly w/ carnival this time becasue some other folks might join us and it is easier to tie the reservations together thru the cruise line....besides the cruise line price and all others are the same... so here is my question....if I book ....directly thru carnival and the price drops......what happens.....do I call them and they give an onboard credit....or when I book directly w/ them....am I stuck if the price drops..... thanx
Cotton Posted April 13, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2004 If you book directly with Carnival PVP, and you see a rate reduction, you can call the PVP to let her/him know. If it is before your final payment has been made, you will probably receive a refund to your credit card. If it is after final payment, you may receive a shipboard credit. There is nothing that says this WILL be done; it's just usually the way it happens. No guarantees. As to your second question - If you don't want to stay with your original booking with Carnival, the PVP will transfer your booking to an agent of your choice. tedjazz Posted April 13, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 13, 2004 If you find the price drop before the final payment you have leverage. If it drops after the final payment you have no leverage. I recently found that out the hard way. I booked an OV Guar and the the price dropped just 2 and a half weeks out. I called Carnival to discuss the price drop and see if I could get an upgrade or shipboard credit. The answer was no to both. After it was all said and done I paid nearly $50 pp more for the Cabin I got in a Cat 6B than everyone else in that Cat was/is paying. The Carnival Rep acknowledged that discrepancy and infered that I should have waited until after the price drop to book and then I could have gotten the better price. Next time I will and if everyone did that (waited until two or three weeks out to book the prices would drop significantly) Carnival would have a problem keeping their books in the black and their ships full. Buyer Beware.
mrsbooger Posted April 13, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 13, 2004 mpffls, Go ahead and bookwith Best Price Cruises. 4 different couples booked with them for our upcoming 5/6 Sensation cruises. After all were booked, I simply called BPC and told them that I would like to have our bookings linked so we could get a table together. In 2 minutes it was done. Go ahead, save the money! Happy Cruising! halos Posted April 13, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2004 BPC will definitely cross reference your parties like the above poster stated. We did it for our 6/19/04 cruise. We have 4 cabins all in a row and we are cross referenced for dinner seating. mpffls Posted April 13, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted April 13, 2004 thanx for all you responces..... we have always used Best price and always traveled w/ other folks....however the last time things really got messed up....if there was a more significant discount and not the chance of adding folks I would use them again...and certainly in the future I will use them....but the difference is less than $30 total........and I want to pre-pay my grats. I will book and if the price goes down...call carnival and hope for a ship board credit...that always helps happy crusing......and thanx trish
