Hi JoeandSheryl,

I thought the Dawn was great. This is not meant to not answer your question, I'm sure you'll get many replies, but just tin case you don't know how.

If you go to the Norwegian Cruise Line thread in CC, then notice the blue banner, there is a Search This Forum, click it, a drop down will happen,

just type in Dawn. You'll be amazed at all the output you'll get.

My family and I hadn't been cruising. We cruised on the Dawn last August.

My 2 teenagers absolutely had a blast, they met many other teenagers (one of which, was staying gin the Garden Villa, they got to hang out there, I of course could only beg, it didn't work). My wife and I had 7 days of relaxation, pretty good food (dsome very good, some good and some OK), you have to do Le Bistro and Cagney's was good too.

We had a mini-suite, the balconies are not that private, I mean someone next to you leaning on their railing can see part of your balcony. It's all according to what you need to do on the balcony. I'm sure soem couple (or more), feel it is private enough. I spent time on the balcony and never saw anyone peering in.

This is a great forum, be prepared for both positive and negative reviews, and don't get swayed. Just do it and make your own opinion.

Make the best of it and roll with the punches.

Good Luck

We sailed NCL Dawn a year ago and will be sailing on the Dawn next year on this date. We love this ship for so many reasons. There are ten different restaurants: French(LeBistro), Italian (LaTrattoria), Mexican (Salsa), Chinese/Fast Food (Blue Lagon) English Pub(King Pearly's), Japanese (Teppanyaki?), Formal Venetian Dining Room, 2 American Restaurants (Impressions & Aqua), Cagney's Steak House, Bimini Bar & Grill, poolside BBQ, Garden Buffet. Best of all, you can eat whatever time you want--table for 2 or share a table with others. Some restaurants require reservations and some charge a fee ($5-$20 on average). I enjoyed having choices of different venues each day--made our vacation much more fun.

We really enjoyed the Dawn's movie theater with popcorn on sea days. The pool area is stadium style surrounded by glass looking electric palm trees--very attractive. The Bimini Bar & Grill is atop the pool deck with terrific chicken terriyaki, burgers & fries--best area for a panoramic view when departing ports. There is a hot tub in the Bow of the ship on the upper pool deck that is great for some quiet time. There are all sorts of private sunbathing areas on the upper pool deck near the Bow hot tub.

There are lots of little things that make the Dawn superior to other ships on other cruiselines we sail. First of all, we loved the fact that the Dawn has hand sanitizing machines outside every restaurant, theater, and the Casino. I also enjoyed the fact that there are hallways around the Casino to avoid smoke when walking to the theater for the evening entertainment (best design of any ship we've sailed for avoiding smoke).

There was a self serve laundry on our deck, and there were hot pots for tea and coffee in our cabin--not to mention our fridge that we stocked with our favorite beverages. Our cabin steward kept refilling our coffee creamers. We enjoyed having tea and dessert in our cabin at night. Can't wait for my next cruise in Feb, but already looking forward to the Dawn next year.

That should cover just about everything I recall.

My husband and I sailed on the Dawn in June 2005. The crew are fabulous! They were all so nice and friendly! well, there was a crabby guy selling chains by the inch but he was the only one! It is great to talk to the crew and ask them questions about themselves!

After being on the Dawn 3 times, I can honestly say I found nothing that I did not like about it except the Florida-Bahama run became a little old. I am glad to see that NCL is changing the ports a little. Hopefully, someday we will be able to get away in the winter and do a 10 or 11 day on the Dawn.

We are going on the Spirit this summer and we are hoping that we love it as much as the Dawn.

The Dawn is so clean and friendly. I can't imagine why anyone would not love it.

Enjoy!

Jeanne

You'll see pages upon pages of pictures from so many who have been on the Dawn and loved it (including myself http://community.webshots.com/user/richardsjlsg ). We went last June (Me, DH, 2 kids) and loved it loved it loved it!!! We're going again next year for a family reunion cruise.

I was on the Dawn June 05, my husband and I loved it. we really liked the freestyle dining. It was nice having the choice to dine where and when you wanted. The only thing I missed was that formal night was not as formal as on other ships. Ladies don't pack your gowns. If your looking for casual this is the cruise for you.
