all4hockey54r Posted May 17, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 17, 2019 We are going on a tour that ends at the Vatican at 4:00pm and another tour that starts at 5:00pm from Piazza Navona. Is it realistic to think that we could make it to our 5:00pm tour on time? Google maps said that there is a bus that will get us from the Vatican to Piazza Navona in 21 minutes and I have also heard that Uber is banned in Rome? How reliable and accessible are Taxis at the Vatican? Any advice would be appreciated.
pkbpickering Posted May 18, 2019 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2019 Hi...there are plenty of buses and taxis so you really shouldn’t have an issue getting to Piazza Navona by 5pm. Having said that, stuff happens (crowded buses, traffic jams) so I would personally recommend you walk. We were in Rome in October and we walked everywhere. If you walk at a normal “getting to a place on time” pace without stopping to look at things, it should take you about 30 to 40 minutes tops to get there....it real is a simple straight forward walk. Have a great time!
PelicanLvr Posted May 18, 2019 #3 Share Posted May 18, 2019 Can that schedule be done....yes, probably.... but it won't be easy. Guided tours don't always end right on time. Our Vatican/St. Peter's tour in March ended about 1/2 hour late. We were grateful for the guide's extra time. Be ready to leave the tour on time or early if it's not done yet. Your tour will probably not end at a taxi stand. The Vatican complex is huge and very crowded...so are the surrounding streets. Not that easy to "make haste" thru, either walking or by taxi. Agree that walking may be your best bet, if that is an option.
