Palazzo Vecchio Security/Entrance Lines?

Folks,

My crew will be in Florence for the day on the first Tues of July, so our #1 idea of seeing the Duomo Museum is out (closed 1st Tues).  Looking at our limited time in the city and the craziness around the Duomo, it seems like most of the Duomo sights are likely to be a mess in our limited time (Duomo security lines long, crypt only accessible AFTER Duomo security lines, etc).

We were considering buying tickets to the Palazzo Vecchio and ramparts/tower ahead of time because it is an amazing sight, has a view of the city.  But we are concerned that even with tickets, the security lines alone will be bad enough to eat up our day.  So we would rather not purchase the tickets if we have reason to believe that we'll lose an hour in the security lines.

Does anyone have experience of the security lines (for those with existing official tickets) for the Palazzo Vecchio right at the beginning of July?  I have not been able to find any discussion of them.  Most of the discussions of security lines focus on the Duomo because they can be so epic.

Thanks!
