Beach snorkeling in Nassau

We'll be in Nassau July 19th. Not sure whether we'll get off the ship (MSC Seaside) or not. If we do, I'd like to maybe walk, bus, or short cab ride to a nice beach with decent snorkeling from shore. We have organized snorkeling excursions booked in other ports so I don't want to plan anything for Nassau.

Any suggestions? I am not expecting world class snorkeling from a beach. A little reef that my daughter and I can swim to when we get bored.

I’ve been trying to research on other sites. Cable beach sounds ok. Anyone snorkel there, and can guide me as to where on the beach I can find som nice reefs to snorkel....anyone...please.
