Cruising89143 Posted April 17, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2004 I just noticed that Carnival has now dropped Martinique from the Destiny's port of calls and replaced it with Dominica. I wonder if they will do this with the Legend? I noticed that at this time Martinique is still listed. I myself did not like Martinique and would like to see Dominica. CruiseFever Posted April 17, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 17, 2004 We sailed the Legend twice and I heard that story both times about dropping Martinique. I made the mistake once of saying it wouldn't bother me if they did and man did I get jumped on for it. I saw that about Dominica and you know what? You can see whales there! imatarb Posted April 17, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 17, 2004 Went to Martinique back in '94 on the Monarch..wasn't anything special for me, personally. Would be interested in seeing Dominica, though. voyagerfl Posted April 17, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 17, 2004 Hated Martinique.... Loved Dominica........we were there when the Inspiration did the Southern Carib. cruises. Dominica is an unspoiled and wonderfully undeveloped gem. Lots of beautiful scenery, we went on a tour that took us to some beautiful water falls and around the country side. It ended up back in town where we saw a little show of Native dancing.
weswas Posted April 17, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 17, 2004 I agree with voyagerfl...we also couldn't stand Martinique but loved Dominica. We have been there a few times and always take a differnt shore tour. It is a wonderful and beautiful place to visit. You should hope on your cruise they replace Martinique!!! UNTIL WE SAIL AGAIN.......

I have heard of it but have no clue what is on it or what island(s) is it next to. Yes, I am too lazy to look it up and hope CC friends will just tell me. Cruising89143 Posted April 17, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted April 17, 2004 Dominica is basically the island next to Martinique in the island chains. sea-cruise Posted April 17, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 17, 2004 The last time we were at Dominica was about 10 years ago, but if you get a chance to snorkel the "champagne springs" just off the coast, it is really nice. Tiny bubbles come up from the bottom and it's really clear. The tour guide had told us that up until 50 years ago they were cannibals, but now they are religious and don't do that anymore....lol.... (THANK GOD)! I think the guide was actually serious! It was a lot like Belize; very undeveloped, but that was 10 years ago. You will dock..not be tendered to shore. I will be away for the next week, so please don't think I am ignoring anyone if I don't respond. Have GREAT fun!!! You will...I'm sure.
