tirons999 Posted January 28, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2006 I've heard that this beach is one of the prettiest in Curacao. Does anyone have any info on this beach? Could we take a taxi from the port? How expensive? Good Snorkeling? Maybe a waterfall, as a little blurb I have says it's surrounded by cliffs? Any info would be much appreciated. :)
2CoolCanucks Posted February 21, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 21, 2006 No waterfall sorry. But it is a beautiful beach and it is free. It is a good drive down the south west coast. Taxi would be quite costly so I would suggest looking into a car rental instead. The roads are scenic and it is easy to get there if you have map. Snorkeling is not your greatest. It had a good smashing from Hurricane Lenny a few years ago and even though they have fixed up the beach area quite nicely, the corals and sea plant life has suffered. However, along the cliff bottoms you can see some nice fish. Be very careful leaving valuables in the car, even in your trunk. The parking lot is up a lot higher than the beach and it doesn't always have a security guy there during the week. On weekends there is usually someone there watching the parking lot. And don't stay there close to dark. Curacao is very arid and dry. Depending on the time of year you go there, this beach could be VERY beautiful (after the rainy season) or just blah... brown.... dry shrubs and thorn bushes. The water however is FABULOUS! Crystal clear, and turquoise and warm. No big waves usually. And the sand is nice. white. soft. :)
