Safes on Empress of the Seas?

We are sailing on the Empress on April 10th. Late last year posters on this board said that RCI was working to put safes in each cabin on the Empress, starting at the upper decks and working down. As of November we thought someone had posted that they were about to start on Deck 4.

 

Does anyone know whether they have actually installed the safes in the cabins on deck 4?

 

We are really leary about leaving our jewery and stuff lying around when we are not in the cabin. The Pursers' safe deposit boxes are not going to be even a little convenient.

 

Any info we can get will be appreciated.

We disembarked on Friday. We had an inside Stateroom on Deck 4 and had a safe - most useful for all the 'important' stuff!!

We are sailing on the Empress in October. Glad to hear that they have safes in the room. However, we are Deck 3, anyone know if they have them in the staterooms on that Deck?

 

I agree with the OP, having to use the Purser's safes would be inconvenient for sure. It was nice having our own safe on the Grandeur.

By the way, what did you do at the various ports? Let us know. We are still trying to decide whether to go on cruiseline excursions or find something on our own. Any suggestions??

I'm very glad to hear they have safes in the cabins. Until this thread, I honestly thought it was standard. We are on the Empress, deck 7, June 10 to Bermuda. Using the Purser's safe would be a *Royal* pain in the rear!:D
