stoneman56 Posted August 7, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2019 Does the spa tend to do discount treatments while on board? I am always seeing the girls trying to get us to have something but no idea if it's cheaper to buy them before sailing or wait until on board and hope they do "specials"
Zephyr173 Posted August 7, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2019 We have seen many kiosks and staff purporting to offer discounted prices on board. However, I did not perceive these offerings to be more palatable than what is offered online, which means expensive (to me). I don’t know if there would be a service charge, as there would be for drinks.
modes Posted August 8, 2019 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2019 Wait for a port day where they have specials.
JAGR Posted August 8, 2019 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2019 MSC does not heavily discount port days as much as US lines, plus you have the 15% surcharge built in. You can get quite a few different 30 and 50 minute massages ahead of time for under $80, for example, and no surcharge.

Would you then tip after the massage if you booked pre-cruise and paid no surcharge?
JAGR Posted August 8, 2019 #6 Share Posted August 8, 2019 Honestly, I tired to in 2018, but the massage therapist wouldn't take money (a first!). In 2019, DW and I never got bills. She did by some product, and I assume the therapist gets a cut of that. Any other cruise line, I have been given an invoice for $0 that showed amount billed and the amount paid and the net balance of $0, but with a blank lines for tip and total.
