reitzut Posted April 19, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2004 We are sailing to Hawaii on Spirt next month. I have reserved a rental car with Avis on Maui (in Lahaina) for both days we are there. Does anyone know if there is overnight parking at the peir, or somewhere nearby? MrPete Posted April 19, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2004 We had a parking shortage problem also on Maui, as they only had 50 parking spaces, first come first serve (although we docked on the other side....at Kahului). Consider having the rental agency hold the car for you overnight, and use their courtesy driver. We did that with no problem. Asked them to pick us up the next morning. __ /7__/7__/7____ \:::::::::::::::::::/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Miracle 7/10/04 NY to Bahamas and Port Canaveral Disney Wonder 3/04/04 Pride 7/16/03 Bermuda Legend 10/02 CTN Disney Wonder 9/02 Destiny 4/01 Southern Caribbean Victory 9/00 Canadian Maritimes Triumph 9/99 Canadian Maritimes Jubilee 4/98 Trans Pacific/Hawaii Imagination 4/97 Western Caribbean Imagination 4/96 Western Caribbean Fascination 4/95 Southern Caribbean Ecstasy 4/18/93 Eastern Caribbean Fantasy 9/25/90 Bahamas Jubilee 5/13/90 Mexican Riviera NCL Seaward 1/15/89 Western Caribbean Jubilee 4/24/88 Eastern Caribbean HONEYMOON
cubsr#1 Posted April 20, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 20, 2004 We cruised on the Spirit from Vancouver to Hawaii last September. We rented a car from Alamo and had no problem with parking. There is free, secured parking with a guard right at the dock. While we were in Maui, there was always plenty of parking available. Have a great time! On our sailing, the Spirit docks in Kahului, not Lahaina (45 minutes away). We have a long thread of folks sailing April 30th from Honolulu. If you are on our cruise, check in with us! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/2/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=927093444&f=6963067357&m=4953021477 Janet
reitzut Posted April 20, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Thanks Folks We have got it figured out now. Thrifty Rental Car is reserved for two days from Kahului Airport. Will try parking over night by the pier; if that doesn't work we will try leaving it with Thrifty at the airport overnight. MrPete Posted April 20, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2004 It's a lottery if things haven't changed. An announcement came over the loudspeaker that they were giving out vouchers for the parking spaces....first come first serve. I couldn't have been in the worst possible place, and got to the pursers lobby way too late. Of course, I thought I was the only one smart enough to pre-rent a car......NOT!
