HazelEyes123 Posted January 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2006 We are doing the 6 day Fla/Bahama cruise on the Spirit this May. I noticed on the itinerary that we stay overnight in GSC. Whats to do at night there?? I never heard of an overnight at the private Island. Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance. Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas 7:30pm overnightThu Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas 2:00pm
smeyer418 Posted January 29, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 29, 2006 I have never heard of that either. They normally sail away around sunset(so they open the Casino). The next stop(normally the Bahamas) isn't far away...
electricron Posted January 29, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 29, 2006 Maybe they are planning some sort of evening activities? Or maybe NCL is trying to save some money by running the main engines a shorter period of time with the later departure. Here's the itinerary: 6-Day (Night) Bahamas & Florida - Norwegian Spirit 2006: May 14, 28; Jun 11, 18; Jul 2, 16, 30; Aug 13, 27; Sep 10, 2 2007: Feb 18; Mar 4, 18; Apr 1, 15 Sun. New York, NY -- 4:00pm Mon. At sea -- -- Tue. Orlando (Port Canaveral), Florida 9:00am 7:00pm Wed. Nassau, Bahamas 9:30am 3:00pm Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas 7:30pm overnight Thur. Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas -- 2:00pm Fri. 6 At sea -- -- Sat. 7 New York, NY 10:00am On the 7 day Bahamas & Florida itinerary, the Spirit sails to Nassau after visiting Great Stirrup Cay and doesn't stay overnight at Great Stirrup Cay. But on this 6 day Bahamas & Florida itinerary, the Spirit sails to Nassau before visiting Great Stirrup Cay. It arrives fairly late in the afternoon or early in the evening, so I guess it gives the crew all night to setup the island for very early morning activities, possibly including breakfast ashore too. That would be nice if they did that. By the way, here's the itinerary for the 7-Day (Night) Bahamas & Florida - Norwegian Spirit 2006: Feb 19, 26; Mar 5, 12, 19, 26; Apr 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; May 7 Sun. New York, New York - - 4:00pm Mon. At sea - - - - Tue. Orlando (Port Canaveral), Florida 9:00am 8:00pm Wed. Miami, Florida 9:00am 6:00pm Thur. Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas 8:00am 6:00pm Fri. Nassau, Bahamas 7:00am 1:00pm Sat. At sea - - - - Sun. New York, New York 10:00am Note the 6 day cruise itinerary also loses Miami as a port. 2Cruise4Ever Posted January 30, 2006 #5 Share Posted January 30, 2006 Maybe there will be more than one ship at GSC and they want to make sure people have enough beach time. That's the only reason I could come up with. Or, maybe it's just a typo. Usually they stay overnight in Nassau.
HazelEyes123 Posted January 30, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted January 30, 2006 I'm hope there will be activites at night on the Island. Though I was hopeing on staying in Nassua overnight. Maybe its a typo? I guess I have to wait untill March to see some reviews. Thanks guys.
TrinaLC Posted January 30, 2006 #7 Share Posted January 30, 2006 Just guessing, but I doubt they will serve breakfast or do nightime activities. They have a pretty set routine for their daytime, and I don't think they can change that on a dime. (For example, I doubt they have torches etc for nightime, and cooking breakfast involves entirely different equipment etc.)

(For example, I doubt they have torches etc for nightime, and cooking breakfast involves entirely different equipment etc.) Since everything comes from the ship for lunch there is no reason they couldn't do breakfast if they wanted to. But I doubt they will. Its just about the same equipment to grill hamburgers as it is to grill eggs. They would just have to bring over bacon OJ and coffee...not impossible..
