Rare Sleep7 Posted October 21, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 21, 2019 Hello Fellow Azamara Cruising Fans! We are just back (October 12th - October 19th) from another absolutely A M A Z I N G week sailing from Monte Carlo to Barcelona on The Pursuit. We were pursuing cruise happiness and we most definitely found it aboard The Pursuit.😃 A little about us.. we are both in our mid/late fifties and this is our 6th seven day Azamara cruise. First one on The Pursuit. It was yet another week filled with gorgeous weather, beautiful ports, delicious food, plentiful wine, lovely new friends, mostly smooth waters and endless onboard smiles. Laundry is done.. suitcases put away.. fridge restocked.. and the mail sorted. Ready to share the adventure? Come sail with me! A beautiful autumn sunset added to our pre-vacation excitement at JFK. The Delta Lounge was super busy at that time on a Friday night.. many flights leaving for Europe from Terminal 4. Loved that since it was October Delta was collecting money for Breast Cancer research.
Rare Sleep7 Posted October 21, 2019 Author #2 Share Posted October 21, 2019 Our nonstop flight to Nice was ready to board! 7 hours 34 minutes of flying time tonight. The sliver of dawn you see just a few hours into the flight as Europe wakes up for the day.
Rare Sleep7 Posted October 21, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted October 21, 2019 A peaceful night and flight and then we arrived! So wonderful to see the friendly Azamara smiles behind the Azamara signs as we exited baggage claim. First glimpse of The Pursuit in Monte Carlo. Rare Sleep7 Posted October 21, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted October 21, 2019 Check in on board in the Cabaret Lounge was quick and pleasant! Cabin 7037 was lovely and in a great location.
Rare Sleep7 Posted October 21, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted October 21, 2019 Breakfast for us but lunch for everyone else on the Sunset Deck of the Windows Cafe.. it's truly one of my favorite Azamara features. Either way you look there is plenty to admire at the harbor in Monte Carlo..
Rare Sleep7 Posted October 21, 2019 Author #6 Share Posted October 21, 2019 Back at our cabin there was our "paperwork" for the day. Met Harry and Amy our sweet and helpful cabin attendants.
Rare Sleep7 Posted October 21, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted October 21, 2019 At 4pm was the lifeboat drill. Then the first of 3 destination lectures about Corsica and then the Cruise Critic Social in the Drawing Room! Always so nice to put faces with the names of the people you have been corresponding with on the roll call. We look wide awake but the missed night's sleep on the plane and the 6 hour time change was starting to make our heads very very foggy.
Rare Sleep7 Posted October 21, 2019 Author #8 Share Posted October 21, 2019 Day one was drawing to a close.. two more observations though. Here is the list of included beverages. I drank only wine the whole week though and loved each and every one they served.🍷 We sat at our #1 favorite table in Discoveries.. it was actually table number one! Fanni our sweet and beautiful waitress made every meal we had there extra special with her smile and warmth. Also.. loved that because I was wearing a black dress they brought me a black napkin so as not to get white fluff on the material. So smart and thoughtful! Rare Sleep7 Posted October 21, 2019 Author #9 Share Posted October 21, 2019 Day two dawned and we were in Porto Vecchio, Corsica.
Rare Sleep7 Posted October 21, 2019 Author #10 Share Posted October 21, 2019 Porto Vecchio was the perfect port for today as we were still tired from the time change and didn't really want to get up early but didn't want to miss anything major either. It's was a sleepy little charming town just right for walking around and relaxing. There was an outdoor Sunday food market that was a photographers (and gourmet's) dream and it was wonderful to see church letting out and all the locals dressed up for the occasion. Rare Sleep7 Posted October 21, 2019 Author #11 Share Posted October 21, 2019 (edited) We learned about the symbol on the flag of Corsica from the destination lecture on board. Here is a summary copied and pasted from the internet.. "The flag of Corsica is a symbol of freedom. Its origin, such as the origin of the flag of Sardinia, is the battle of Alcoraz in 1096, during which King Peter I of Aragon defeated Moors during Spanish Reconquista. According to another version, the blindfolded moor refers to the Egyptian Saint Maurizio." Strolled back to the ship. Had a beautiful and relaxing lunch on the sunset deck at the Windows Cafe. Sam proclaimed this Salad Nicoise with freshly seared tuna as his favorite meal of the cruise! Rare Sleep7 Posted October 21, 2019 Author #14 Share Posted October 21, 2019 (edited) The port of Olbia. Because we had literally a boatload of OBC from booking this cruise on board last year's cruise we took way more shore excursions than we usually do. We are really just people who like to wander around a port town but we had $$ to burn so I booked the "Porto Cervo on our own" excursion. It actually ended up being truly on our own because Porto Cervo was just about a ghost town in the middle of October.🤨 We did see a pretty overlook and the tour guide was nice but we would have been much better off just staying in Olbia for the day. An olive tree.. one of the highlights of the tour! 🤣 Edited October 21, 2019 by Sleep7
Rare Sleep7 Posted October 21, 2019 Author #15 Share Posted October 21, 2019 When we got back to the ship there was information for us about our disembarkation in Barcelona. All of that was about to change in the next few days..
Rare Sleep7 Posted October 21, 2019 Author #16 Share Posted October 21, 2019 Lucky for us we got time for lunch and a visit to Olbia after the tour returned.

Rare Sleep7 Posted October 21, 2019 Author #19 Share Posted October 21, 2019 (edited) Tuesday - Day 4 already.. We didn't arrive in Mahon, Menorca until 1:00pm and that left the morning free for the LCV special breakfast.😃 Edited October 21, 2019 by Sleep7
