The following is posted on the Intercontinental Hotel Site for Tahiti and Moorea. Not sure if this affects any CC members or how accurate it is, but it may be worth noting and do some additional research if you think this could be needed for your travel:

WARNING FOR ALL PASSENGERS TRANSITING THE US ON THE WAY TO TAHITI. IF YOUR PASSPORT HAS BEEN ISSUED AFTER THE 25TH OCTOBER, 2005. YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE A SPECIAL VISA TO TRANSIT THE UNITED STATES. PLEASE CHECK WITH THE US AMBASSY IN YOUR COUNTRY. BE ADVISED THAT IT MAY TAKE UP TO 1 MONTH TO RECEIVE IT! IF SUCH A VISA IS NOT PRESENT WHEN YOU ENTER THE UNITED STATES AT THE TRANSIT POINT, YOU WILL BE SENT BACK TO THE DEPARTURE COUNTRY.

I'm from US, so I really do not know. Just saw it on the hotel website and thought is was worth posting for our CC friends from Canada and UK that may be traveling thru the US. Maybe your TA was better info? Asking a few questions now could be worth the time as opposed to missing out of the trip of a life-time.

I know they've been changing the rules, but this one does not apply to Canadians, at least not at this time.

We live on the border and always cross with our passports. We don't even need those - photo ID will do. However, I find it less hassle to use our passports as we always seem to get across quicker with them.
