Zenith Cruise: Feb 20th 2006

Hi all:

I was just wondering if anyone can tell me more about the Zenith's staterooms, in particular on the Florida deck (4053). I am thinking about the wave noise and also the condition of the rooms (if they were ALL updated during the Nov 2005 dry dock). I have also heard that some of the rooms have new carpet and others not.

Also, very interested in the smoking situation. I am a non-smoker and am hoping that all of the public rooms (dining, auditorium, etc) are non-smoking. I understand none of the rooms are designated at all. Is there a lot of smoke on board? Are the rooms free of the smoky smell from deodorizing?

Thanks in advance.

Steve, I don;t think all of the rooms on the 4th floor are refurbished yet. But they are working on it. I just came back from the Zenith and was on the 6th floor, which was refurbished. New carpet and soft goods, very nice. The dining room, showlounge are non smoking, there is smoking on the Starboard side of the ship. The rooms do not smell of smoke. I happen to be a smoker, but I was amazed and even remarked to my husband that you could not smell smoke in our room. The have a very good ventilation system on board. There is only a small portion of the casino that is designated non smoking. Just remember when walking through the ship, bar areas, etc, walk on the Port side and not the Starboard, I think you will be fine. Hope this helps any concerns that you may have. The Zenith is a fine very well maintained ship, who has a great crew.

As far as the wave noise, I think that would depend on the sea. We were on the 6th floor and had two very rough days, and believe me you could hear the waves and the water splashing against the side of the ship. Are you forward, middle or aft? I would think it would be worse if you were in the forward section of the ship.

Hey groth12345 - I will be sailing with you on the 20th - can't wait. I am also on the 4th and have wondered about the same. We are in 4151 which is just a few cabins from the rear of the ship. I am wondering about vibrations/engine noise. But really, it doesn't matter too much to us because the amount of time spent in the cabin is so minimal and we're usually so tired, we don't care anyway!

Are you bringing any kids with you?

Hi:

Thanks for the information. This is very encouraging!

We are on the port side and about 1/3 of the way back from the front. We didn't want to be close to the aft (engine noise). Hopefully the Florida deck has been refurbed. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks.

Steve

I have been visiting these boards occasionally and haven't seen anything on the Feb. 20th Zenith cruise that my wife and I will be on. We did find out yesterday, however, that another teacher at her school will be there, as well as, at least 2 former students :(. So much for cutting loose. I'll have to party twice as hard to make up for her. I guess that's the price I pay for marrying a teacher:D .

Anybody else for the Feb. 20th Zenith sailing?

Slota---I thought smoking was on the port side of the ship. Facing the stage ine Tendesvouz Lounge smoking is on the left. And since you are facing the front of the ship in that configuration, the left side would be the port side. But, maybe I am wrong?

sisson d---we are on Feb. 25 so don't party too hearty. I want the ship to be able to sail again after you get off. But I know what you mean about teachers and students. We once turned down buying a house we loved because when we came out after walking through, three of my students were on the front porch waiting for me. They lived just down the street!!!! Maybe she can wear a wig.

I just phoned Celebrity and they did acknowledge that on some parts of the ship that do allow smoking, and it is the port side. Technically any of the rooms can be smoked in but most of the ship is designated non-smoking including the corridors, dining and auditorium.

I, too, had believed all X ships had smoking on port side only, but recently read in a Millenium daily that smoking for that voyage was on starboard! Don't know why or if it was a typo.

Whatever it is, it will be clearly told in your boarding papers the first day onboard.

groth12345-I am sailing with 10 others (mostly family), and we have a daughter that will turn 7 on the day we depart. How fun for her!

BTW, I am a teacher and have really earned this vacation - I will do some serious cutting loose! Buh-bye, kindergarten!
