As others have mentioned, it's the exchange rate. We're essentially losing $0.25 on every dollar.

We're fairly frugal although we both make a good living and the only "luxury" we opted for on the cruise is a balcony cabin and we're costing the entire vacation at about $6000 CAD.

 

Airfare down and back (and we've got some of the cheapest flights available), a few relatively inexpensive excursions, hotel the night before the cruise, dinner in the steakhouse one night all adds up quickly. We normally do an all-inclusive in Mexico which we typically pay around $2200 for, including air, booze and a rental car for a couple of days.

Just some info in case you're considering it, if you buy FTTF you select a check-in time but you can ignore it and check in at the port whenever you want to (after D&P, Suite and wedding guests).
