Airline check in at Fort Lauderdale Port?

Do the airlines still allow you to check your baggage at Port Everglades for a flight departing out of Fort Lauderdale airport? We did this in the past for Delta Airlines and it made the trip to the airport so much easier not having to bother with luggage in a taxi cab. This year we will be flying with American Airlines.

Thank you.

They now have Luggage Valet. For $10 per person you get two special luggage tags each. They have a special area at the port to pick up the luggage and then the porter goes through the customs with you and takes the bags to a waiting truck. They deliver your boarding pass to your cabin after midnight. Great service! I liked it. Ask the concierge about it.

Does anyone know of flight time restrictions using the luggage valet service? On our Century cruise, we theoretically arrive in port at 600am, and have an 1159am flight. I would presume early flights would be marginal that the luggage would be transferred in time. Any thoughts/experiences from recent cruisers? Thanks!

There is a time restriction. My memory is saying 11:30 to 5:30. I usually have a fairly early flight and they took mine. Hope my memory is right.

BTW, when I got off Century 12/5 this was a new service and there were only about 5 of us using it. Sure hope people figure out it's a great deal so they keep it.

And if you buy too much stuff: Century has Fedex service. They bring you a 20 x 20 x 12 box to your room. You pack up to 30lbs. They come and seal it and give you a luggage ticket. You put it out with the luggage, pick it up from a special area and the porter gives it to the fedex truck. $30 and it was here in 4 days. GREAT DEAL if you're a shopper like me!!

Tuggers: thanks for the info on Fedex. Gwynn & I will be sailing her Feb. 18 on the 9-day cruise. Helps me know if I over buy for our kids and grandkids that there is a way to get ``stuff'' back home other than tossing our dirty underwear overboard.

Have heard of this service and wondered if it worked. Hearing from you that it does work makes me confident to use Fedex as well as the luggage valet.

Thanks again, Gail.:)
