onyx007 Posted April 2, 2020 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2020 Just wondering; is there really anything to see around Montevideo about the "Battle of the River Plate" ? If you would go there, I would rather visit the museum "Viver" about the famous plane crash in the Andes. Run by one of the former members of the rugby team which survived the crash... harrisswansea Posted April 2, 2020 Author #3 Share Posted April 2, 2020 Hi, There is plenty of local knowledge regarding the battle. The German consulate, the house Killington Drake lived, the view over Montevideo where the Graff Spee lies but most important the small naval museum not usually open to the public where many artifacts of the battle history are located. The tour also visits the German cemetery where 36 sailors are buried.
