Sail and Sign card...reasonable amount for cash?

I was wanting to see if $500 is a reasonable amount they will let you put on your sail and sign account without having to put a credit card down?

I have seen a few posts in here about there being a $200 per person minumum. Last time we sailed Conquest, I asked the Purser how much cash I needed to put down. He said, what ever amount I wanted. So we put $300 then, and during the week added another $100. We ended up with a small refund. As far as is it enough for you personally.... Only you will know that. You can spend $500 or $2000 with ease. Depends on your personal tastes and lifestyle.

On the pride in may the purser said the minimum was 70 to cover the tips.

Yes, $500 is enough. They do post miniumum cash deposits based on cruise length, but they are not concerned with how much you put on there as long as tips are covered. Also, they will allow you to combine your accounts. You put down one cash deposit and all S&S card charges for your cabin (you still get separate cards) come out of the same deposited amount. It's easier than putting $250 on each and then having to move around funds if one person spends more than the other.

 

We put $400 in cash on our S&S, and got a big refund at the end of the cruise. No credit card is needed. You can add money whenever you want to, or you can withdraw cash from the account as needed for going into ports etc. That beats paying $5 to the ATM for withdrawals!

How is the PP Tips I paid already handled?? They wont take more out on S&S card, right?? And if I decide to tip at time of service, I can add to card?? Or do cash......?? :confused:
