SNUBA in Key West

Hi all...Will be cruising to Key West in August of 2006, and was thinking about going with SNUBA of Key West. Our family of 5, oldest child 19, youngest 12, like to snorkel, and thought this might be a nice change of pace. I'm a little concerned with some of the posts I've read about dead reefs and a lack of fish in Key West. Has anyone SNUBA'd recently, and what did they think? Which tour company did you use? Any suggestions or feedback would be most appreciated! You can email me directly at Equiflower@optonline.net if you prefer.

Thank you in advance,

Carol

I went snuba diving for the first time last fall in KW with Snuba of Key West. A small but comfortable boat with two young people took 4 of us out on a 40-60 minute boat ride to the reef. They were quite patient and helpful as I was very nervous. I quickly got over my fears and loved the snuba. It may not be the most colorfull reef but I did see lots of fish. It was very cool and would do it again. The crew was friendly and I would recommend it. You should check to see if they have an age requirement, as your children might be too young. It could be scarry for your younger ones.

We have never done snuba (or scuba); and so we enjoyed learning the basics and did not realize the brown-ness of things and few fish was not typical for caribbean. I think you will enjoy unless you have previously experienced plentiful fish/sights before.
