Smoking Policy on Princess Cruises

Am considering trying a different cruise - did Disney Magic Last year but are concerned that some cruises allow smoking in cabins. Can anyone help with the policy on Princess cruises please.

They do allow smoking in cabins but I have never smelled smoke in my cabins or walking down the hall.

The biggest problem you are likely to have is when walking thought the designated somking areas (sides) of the deck or from smoke that may drift from someone else's balcony to yours.

The only place where the smoke smell seems to be bad is in the casino!

Reformed smoker here, and agree with CoolMama - smoke in Casino can be overpowering at times. Good thing I am not addicted to gambling.

My wife is quite sensitive to the smell of smoke. Never once has she had a complaint about a cabin on a Princess ship. Hotel rooms - sometimes.

I'm very sensitive to smoke and as others have said, the only times I've been bothered by it on a cruise ship is near (or in) the Casino. Also, outside Churchills on the Coral Princess, which is a cigar bar. You can smoke in your cabin and balcony but other than that, smoking is allowed only in designated areas. The air exchange system on a ship is pretty darned good.

Does anyone know if they monitor the smoking areas on deck? I hate relaxing by the pool only to have to move because someone beside me lights up. Which side of the ship is usually designated smoke free? We're on the Dawn Apr 9 to the Mexican Rivieria. Thanks for the info.

We found that we could often find a cloud of smoke in the Island Princess' atrium. Unfortunately, the cigar bar (Churchills) is located there as well as an open bar.

The starboard side usually is non-smoking side. Staff will NOT monitor or enforce the rule. When I was on Golden last year, we stayed at the non-smoking side by the pool. No smoking signs were clearly posted. A guy with heavy chains around his neck lit up a CIGAR in front of us. The area was semi-enclosed so the cigar fume was confined. Some nearby passengers started walking away. I told the pool attendants. They said OK but walked to the other direction. I finally told the man this was a non-smoking section. He jumped up and yelled at me in front of his 2 children. He might have had too many drinks. We soon just left the area.
