This has happened twice to me - the most recent for the LOS Feb 18 cruise [yes - only 11 days!]:

 

At first RCCL wanted $517 a ticket for coach air travel during Febto and from BDL for our cruise.

 

The next time I called, after the cruise deposit was down, they could not provide air at all.

 

Expedia and Travelocity and airline websites were at $484 for a 2.5 hr flight [that costs $99 in summer] and now they are $500 each way for last minute.

 

On a lark I checked out advance purchase FIRST class. It was $179 each way, or - $120 LESS THAN COACH roundtrip. So, we are starting and ending our vacation much more comfortable than if we flew coach.

 

We decdied not to fly our own airplane on this one because it would have cost more than flying first class, and this way we actually have a bathroom! Even if we do have big time airline hassle factor . . . so if you do not likethe airfare, don't limit your search to coach!
