question about credits

I'm sailing out of NY on June 8th. Originally, I had booked a category 4A room. However, I checked their prices today and the same room was $280 cheaper per person.

 

I called my TA and they spoke with carnival. They are now moving us to a category 8I, room 8233. Is this a nice room?

 

Also, the new room they moved us to is still $40 less than what we paid. I asked about a shipboard credit but they said Carnival won't do that. They said Carnival will only do the room upgrade. Does that sound correct?

4A is an inside and 8I is the extended balcony -I don't think I'd be caring about the $40 and I'd say it's probably a better room (cabin )
