Raceroc Posted February 8, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2006 Booking a Cruise for Nov. (Eastern caribbean). I was looking at the Triumph with great prices and decent reviews. We have never been on Princess but have heard good things. Cost is about 80.00 per person more...Is it worth it, or should I stick with Carnival? Stops are: Triumph - St Thomas, St Maartin, San Juan (eve). Caribbean Princess - St Thomas, St Maartin, Princess Cay. I appreciate comments from someone that has been on both...Thanks and have a GREAT day!
Bowlersbus Posted February 8, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2006 Just did Caribbean Princess this past July - was a loyal Royal Caribbean person. I LOVED Princess. I am 40, took my 17 yr old and my mother 58. Ship was sold out and never felt crowded. Food was AMAZING. We had the aft Grand Cayman Suite and the room and steward were incredible. Our cruise was the one that had engine trouble leaving St. Thomas so we skipped Princess Cay - and were refunded $100 per person to our SS accounts. Casino was small but nice, staff was friendly. Movie's under the stars was very cool - lounging on a chaise with a blanket and popcorn. Cruise director was kinda blah but Bert Stratton the piano sing-a-long guy had standing room only EVERY NITE. Shows were mediocre - Not alot of kids - they have a very visible "TEEN STAFF" that keeps the ones there in line. My daughter thought the teen club was better than RC they did more than just watch videos and play PS2. March 26th is my first Carnival cruise - Good Luck. It just depends on what you are looking for. Each line has its own signature things and any cruise is what you make of it.
pzerba Posted February 8, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 8, 2006 Pick the Caribbean Princess - we did the CB last November (04) and the Triumph this November (05). CB a much prettier ship, more to do, better service. A lot of people though. Triumph, to be honest, was blah. That being said, my next cruise is on the Elation, 4/22, making number 4 for Carnival - I've only had the one Princess.
serene56 Posted February 8, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 8, 2006 For 80.00pp more I'd be doing the Princess cruise. We are booked for the Caribbean PRincess for Feb, 2007 We have sailed ROyal and are Carnival Junkies...but I really want to do anytime dining. I am looking forward to eating when I want instead of a set schedule. PS I also was on the Regal Empress.. is that the one that was commissioned in 1952? Beach4me Posted February 11, 2006 #7 Share Posted February 11, 2006 Have you seen any of the pics of CP's seafood buffet? I'd pick that ship for that reason alone. I was on the Glory in Jan and we were in port with the CP almost every day. After talking with several passengers, I decided that I'll be cruising the CP for my next Caribbean cruise. And, I've booked 2 other Princess cruises as well. I think this double-Platinum Carnival gal is quickly converting to a Princess. :) Enjoy - and be sure to post your cruise review over on the Princess board when you get back. I'll be looking for it! D4 Posted February 12, 2006 #8 Share Posted February 12, 2006 I vote for the Caribbean Princess. We were on it last August and if they'd do a more interesting itinerary we'd be on it again. The ship is beautiful, the food is wonderful (yes that seafood buffet and more). Princess also has a fantastic past cruiser program. You start getting very nice benefits at 5 cruises (such as unlimited internet usage plus more.) We would go on a Celebrity or Princess cruise any day over a Carnival cruise. Why am I on the Carnival board? Our next cruise is Carnival because they have more Caribbean itineraries in the summer which is the only time we can cruise. My DH likes variety in ports. This will be our 8th Carnival cruise, so we obviously don't hate it, but I'd rather be on Celebrity or Princess!

I am a little biased though.;) Bill
