Excellent review, that is how l remember the ship.

and the bit about the food...

Part five

A word about the cuisine on board MSC OPERA. The dining room fare can be quite extraordinary. The breads are made fresh on board and with varying recipes. Oil and vinegar are available for those who prefer it European style. The appetizers, soups, and salads have all been top notch and the main courses, especially the fish dishes, have met expectations. An eggplant parmesan Tuesday night may be among the best entrees I have ever eaten at sea.

Definitely worth a read.

I am sailing on the Opera this Saturday (you might have seen our roll call). I will post a detailed, unbiased review when I get back. I don't know how much help it will be to other cruisers, as I am a very optimistic person. In all my cruises, and there have been many, I have never had one that I regretted going on. However, in all fairness to others, I will try to "post it as I see it", so others will have realistic expectations.

Thanks for directing us to the review from Knego re the Opera. We've been reading so many negatives-this sounds great.Hopefully, things will be just as good when Sasso is off the ship!:) We're on the 3/18 transatlantic cruise, and looking forward to 16 days of sailing!

I just got off the Opera on 2/18. After reading all the negatives I was very concerned about the week I was heading to. I will say I am a TA and was on the ship for a seminar. My opinion now is that I would not hesitate to book a client on MSC. It may not be the best for children but there was only a hand full on this sailing so it is hard to tell. The crew has the Celebrity style service from greeting you everytime they pass you to cleaning a already spotless ship. The entertainment was fantastic every night weather you were in the theater or one of the lounges. The crew will do anything for you with white glove treatment. Anyone who is worried about the automatic tipping shouldn't be as it is well worth it . The casino is small and you are not swamped with waiters trying to sell you a drink. If you are booked on MSC do not worry you will have a great time.
