The answer to both of your questions is no. Avoid any hotel on State Road 84, area is not safe.

Clean and safe try the LaQuinta, Ft Lauderdale Airport http://www.lq.com/lq/properties/propertyProfile.do?ident=LQ985&propId=985 the Holiday Inn Express... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ex/1/en/hd/fllcc or the Extended Stay America Extended Stay America... http://www.extendedstayamerica.com/...ter-marina.html

I booked this hotel before discovering cruise critic. I have since read several bad reviews, but non very specific. Based on the reviews, it seems that most of the hotels in the FLL are "unsafe" and "not recommended," but you gotta stay somewhere. I wish someone would be more specific then just saying the hotel is in an "unsafe" area. Are there actually gangs, crackheads, homeless????? Or is it just in an "industrial area?"
