pbcbbc Posted February 17, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 17, 2006 I did it and thought it was fantastic! I loved going into Colima. A nice small city. The Cathedral was beautiful and the museum was very neat. Comala was the highlight, though. So quaint. Very nice. The lunch we had was fantastic. Such a nice atmosphere. I thought the pyramids were neat, but kinda smaller than I expected. The volcanos were hard for us to see due to lots of smoke coming out of them. On a good day they would be spectacular. Hope that helps!

pbcbbc Posted February 22, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 22, 2006 I did the tour independent of the ship. When you dock, there are a couple of tour companies right there with thier drivers and thier cars/vans ready to go. (Make sure you talk with the actual driver you are going with and look at the vehicle to make sure you are comfortable. I forget the name of the tour companies, but I do remember there being two licenced ones.) It was $150 for the day in a new Nissan Sentra, split between 4 of us. Our driver Abel spoke great English, took great care of us and made sure we got back to the ship on time. We did the exact same tour as the ship, running into them at every stop. Being in a car let us have more time at each place, relaxing the pace of the day. If I remember right, the cost of the ship's excursion was $60. I waited until the last minute to book it and it was sold out, so beware! That is why I ended up going with an independent tour guide and was very pleased with the result.
