Buying Alcohol

I read some place that liquor is cheap to buy in Cozumel. A friend of mine drinks an expensive gin so I thought I'd try to pick some up for him. Is this true and where do you go to buy it?

 

Also, do y'all know anything about prescription drugs being purchased in Coz?

This is probably a stupid question, but here goes anyway.

 

Can you buy Jamaican alcohol in the Western Carib (i.e. Cozumel)?

 

Unfortunately our cruise isn't going near Jamaica this time, but there is some Jamaican rum that we LOVE, but can't get in the states. Has anyone ever seen Jamaican rum in Mexico?

I'd look at Chedauri, the large Mexican "super-center" in town. It is along the waterfront directly across the street from the Cozumel Palace. They sell many, many different things there, alcohol, prescription drugs, vanilla (make sure it isn't artificial), and interesting foods. Any taxi can take you there, or you could walk there from either the ferry pier or Puenta Langosta.
