A tipping question

If you eat in the speciality dining room several nights during a cruise, do you give your regular waiter the same tip as if you ate in the main dining room every night? I always do because I feel they count on these tips and shouldn't be penalized because I chose to eat elsewhere on a few night during the cruise.

I'm sure some don't, but I sure do. Good service is good service and the way I look at it, just because I decided to eat elsewhere, it shouldn't impact my server who has to be on duty whether or not I'm in the dining room or not.

I always tip at least the full amount to my DR staff. After all, they also provide service in the buffet on rotating schedule and also those gormet bites late night in the lounges.

You shouldnt slight the main dining room staff when you eat outside the dining room. That $3.50 for the waiter and $1.50 pp for the bus boy are just part of the cruising fare. If you do the automatic tipping youll never know the difference.

 

Of course if you did alternative and specialty 90% of the cruise then you may have to think on it.
